AVV held its Post Election AAR for key staff and regional leaders on 4 January 2025 at Crossroads Baptist Church, 4236 Lee Hill School Dr, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. More than 30 staff, regional teams, and guest speakers attended for a very full day of review and forward planning. Thanks to all who attended.
As you may have seen, we recently added a new “VOLUNTEER” section to the GET INVOLVED Page on the website. This was in response to members asking for more details on where they can get involved and the roles they can play in supporting AVV. The response has been very exciting! Volunteer contacts are being sent to the respective Regional Team Leaders to contact these volunteers and bring them into the AVV programs.
On December 3, 2024 AVV Regional Team Leaders and Staff met to discuss several issues in preparation for the January AAR. Observations and recommendations were set out regarding the roles for Regional Teams and Team Leaders and next step actions. Discussed website enhancements to improve messaging to Members. Also discussed the 2024 GOTV Campaign and preparations for 2025.
There will be a general membership meeting for Congressional Districts 10 & 11 on Saturday, 28 September, on the terrace at GPR Headquarters, 22365 Broderick Drive, Sterling, VA 20166. There will be drinks and light snacks provided. All AVV members and their friends are invited. We will discuss the state of the election in the Commonwealth and ways to help get out the vote. We need every veteran for this election. We also might have
Regional Veteran Forum and AVV member support event to be held on Saturday, June 22. Location: American Legion Hall. 8456 Brock Road Spotsylvania, VA. The date was chosen to immediately follow the Primary date of June 18 to allow an available forum for primary winners and newly elected party officials to meet and discuss community issues and Veteran concerns in the 7th CD. Expect further details to be published before the end of May.
The AVV Southeast team conducted two significant events over the last week of April. On April 28, at the Armed Forces Brewery in Norfolk, AVV hosted a Veteran Forum and fundraiser with special guest speakers including Lt Gov Winsome Sears, U.S. Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, and Va. State AG, Jason Miyares. Commissioner of Veteran Services Chuck Zingler helped conduct the forum along with AVV member, Michael Schoelwer. Va Senator Bill DeSteph and Va Delegate Anne Ferrell
