Bruce Johnson is a career Surface Warfare Officer, retiring in 2003 after 22 years service. His sea tours included Cruiser-Destroyer and Amphibious ships in both Pacific and Atlantic Fleets. He served as a Division Officer, Department Head, and Executive Officer, as well as Advanced Phase Training Officer for Commander Amphibious Group 2. Shore duty included Navy ROTC Instructor at Texas A&M, Lead ASW and FFG instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School Newport, Rhode Island, Force Officer and Enlisted Personnel Officer at Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic (COMNAVSURFLANT) in Norfolk, VA and Executive Officer at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic, Dam Neck, VA. Following his Navy career, he was employed as a civilian Defense Contractor, and as a government Surface Training Program Coordinator for Navy Education and Training Command. Mr. Johnson’s Bachelor of Arts Degree is in Broadcast Journalism from Washington State University. In 1989, he was conferred a Masters Degree in Political Science (International Relations) from Texas A&M University. A widower, he is the father of a son and two daughters. He has resided in Virginia Beach since 1995.
